The Aliabad Hospital used to be one of the premier Afghan medical schools in KartiChar, Kabul. Unfortunately, the hospital was among many of the victims that the Taliban claimed. They destroyed the hospital during their reign and radiation contamination from the destruction of the radiotherapy department rendered the hospital completely unsafe and unusable. The hospital was relocated to the compound of the Womens Hospital in Shari Nau.
The urology department, under Dr. Hassan Manawi (pictured above), has grown to a staff of seven surgeons teaching urology and eight residents taking instruction from them. In 24 months they have built a modest cement building with a small surgical suite, a procedure room and four wards accommodating up to 40 male patients.
